drive shaft Explanation: It does not sound like a proper part, it's more like a heading of a list of axles or st (like output shaft = ulosottoakseli, half shaft = vetoakseli and rotor shaft = roottoriakseli). This is the best suggestion I could find. It is in fact käyttöakseli, pääakseli, käyttävä akseli or ohjausakseli, but 'drive shaft' transmits motion to a machine, anyway : ) |

rotating shaft Explanation: Another possibility that seems to come up often in the context of aircraft propulsion. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 4 hrs (2008-12-30 14:00:17 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Revising my suggestion to "moving shaft" based on http://www.rlhudson.com/Shaft Seal Book/design-shaft9.html, "rotating" is too specific without additional context. linear drive unit Explanation: They seem to translate the robotics term 'linear drive unit' as 'liikeakseli' in Finnish. For instance you find one Yamaha Robotics unit in English here: http://www.directindustry.com/prod/yamaha-robotics/linear-dr... and the same in Finnish here: http://www.swoy.fi/?file=98 |
