Persian (Farsi) term or phrase: پیاز خلالی
Greetings,

My Iranian friends recently treated me to some lovely آش ماست.

When the lady of the house showed me the packet of dried onion she had used, I was surprised to find that it said "پیاز خلالی". Please could you give the pronunciation too?

By the way, the expression is also on the Internet here:

Best wishes, and many thanks,

Simon

Explanation:
could also be sliced/slivered...I see all these definitions in my sources...it will depend on exactly how they were processed and what they looked like in the bag.
