I realized the reason I could not find this in my dictionaries was that سیالات was misspelled as سیلات

Yes, They are different. fluid mechanics is the study of fluid phenomena such as turbulence and so on where you mostly focus on the MECHANICS of the flow. Thermodynamics is, as its name implies, the study of energy conversion in a system. So, to answer your question, I have to say yes they are different. but you may need the knowledge of thermodynamics to deal with some problems in fluids specially when you are dealing with compressible flow.

Is "حرارت وسیلات" or "Heat and Fluids" different from thermodynamics.
