Persian (Farsi) term or phrase: دوره
Greetings,

Please, what is the meaning of دوره here? This passage is about an Iran TV historical serial:

به گزارش خبرنگار رادیو و تلویزیون فارس، سریال تاریخی «سایه سلطان» در سه دوره گذشته، حال و آینده روی می‌دهد و داستان آن از جایی آغاز می‌شود که دختری فرانسوی به خیال اینکه اصلیتی ایرانی دارد، در مقطع 30 سال آینده ماجرایی را پیگیری می‌کند.

All the best, and many thanks,

Simon

Here, دوره simply refers to a special era or time. It doesn't have anything to do with duration of a time period; I mean in terms such as "phase"/ "stage"/ "period"/"term" there is a trace of "duration"; while the closest meaning conveyed is that of "era" or "time" here. Now, considering the fact it is a "historical" series, I think era is more appropriate.

Explanation:
though دوره can be translated as term, era, period, age etc., I think we can go for "phase" or "stage" here

Nil | temporal setting

Explanation:
If the sentence is going to be translated into English, IMHO, there is no need to translate دوره, and therefore, the translation can be something like
... the story takes place in the past, present, and future ...
or
... the series is set in in the past, present, and future ...

However, if you'd like to preserve the Persian term, I suggest "temporal setting."
