English term or phrase: benefit communication
the X consortium is comprised of experts in key fields relevant to food risk and benefit communication, research institutes, consumer organisations, and SMEs in nine EU Member States: Ireland, UK, the Netherlands, Belgium

I'm not sure how to read it: does it mean "benefit communication" is one of the relevant fields? and if so isn't the wording a bit strange?
The text is about improving communication and assisting communicators in more efficient communication.

Benefit - (everything else)

Explanation:
The way I read it, it means that the things being benefited are "communication, research institutes, consumer organisations, and SMEs...".

the communication of advantages

Explanation:
It's just one of the list of fields, but the rest of the sentence isn't very well written. So they're experts in fields related to food risk, the communication of advantages to be gained from whatever the consortium is about AND from research institutes etc.

benefit communication

Explanation:
Hi Eva
I think that the author probably intends the word 'benefit' to be linked to the noun 'food' rather than 'communication', so the sentence would be clearer if it was rearranged slightly to read, 'the communication of food risks and benefits' rather than 'food risk and benefit communication'.
Does this help?

Lincoln may also be right in his interpretation! If that's the correct interpretation in the context of the document, just adding an 's' to 'benefit' would make the sentence clear.

Example sentence(s):
  • the communication of food risks and benefits
