Bus/Financial - Retail / US usage
English term or phrase: Licensed premises
This is the term that I would use in UK English for "debit de boissons", but I would like to know whether this would be intelligible to an American reader. Though the document that I'm writing is in UK English, some/all of the readers are liable to be from the US.

In the United States, liquor licences are issued by each state. Each city and localities may also have laws and regulations in acquiring such licence. For example, in the state of Oregon, the Oregon Liquor Control Commission (OLCC) regulates and controls the distribution, sales and consumption of alcoholic beverages.
Depending on the local regulations, there may be several different classes of liquor licences. There may be several choices of licence classes depending on how one intends to sell the alcoholic beverages.

Notes to answerer
Asker: Thanks Lisa. Yes, the solution is 'premises licensed for the sale of alcohol'. Better long-winded than unintelligible to the readers.

agree  Tony M: Asker's problem then becomes the fact that 'liquour permit' would not be understood by the average UK reader! We don't commonly use the word 'liquor' in this way, nor is 'permit' the most common word for a 'license' :-(

Explanation:
Liquor license is the common term in the United States. Having lived in the US the last 58 years, this is the term that was and still is used most often. Although I think I only first tasted liquor about 54 years ago.

Liquor License
Many restaurants depend on their alcohol sales to add cushion to their tight profit on food. The ability or inability to obtain a liquor license often determines the fate of a restaurant project. If you decide to have your restaurant serve alcohol, do extensive research on how to obtain a license and get answers directly from the people who issue them. New Chinese Restaurant Hungers For Liquor License
By Darcy Leigh Richardson

Christine Hsu is hungry to open her authentic Chinese restaurant in Belmont Shore.
Playfully named Me Soo Hungry, Hsu’s first business endeavor is scheduled to open in October at the former It’s A Grind Coffeehouse location, 5372 E. Second St. on the east end of Belmont Shore.
Hsu said there is a lack of a good Chinese restaurant in the Shore, and she fell in love with the property by the beach.
..
Although Hsu’s Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) Type 41 (beer and wine) liquor license was protested by City Council during the Sept. 21 meeting,
Hsu said she plans to appeal to ABC in hopes of offering beverages that will complement her food, like Chinese beer and sake.

ADA TOWNSHIP -- A new restaurant could be coming to the area.

The Township Board on Monday granted approval for a Class C liquor license for Rix 301, at 445 Ada Drive SE. It is the site of the former Thornapple Daily Grill, which closed last month.

Steven and Laura Davies, of Ada Township, in January plan to open the "American-style grill" for lunch and dinner, and eventually add weekend breakfasts.
