Hello everyone,

Andre Agassi says he was forced into tennis by his father; told to hit 1000 balls a day as a seven-year-old.
At 13, he became one of the earliest disciples of Nick Bollettieri, who accepted him at his famous tennis academy free of charge.

With his unruly hair, outlandish attire and smart mouth, Agassi was the Las Vegas kid - and he was just the kind of 16 year old old **Nike** was looking for to grab the youth market.

Is Nike a famous US firm?

I'm not sure and here is why:

Andre Agassi drops Nike for rival Adidas after 17 years

2005 - 17 = 1988

Agassi was born in 1970

1970 + 16 = 1986

Thank you.

Selected answer:Nike = Nike
Explanation:
The discrepancy in dates is not really a problem. Agassi was 16 years old up to his 17th birthday on 29 April 1987. He signed with Nike in 1987:

"Agassi signed his first Nike contract in 1987 for $25,000 guaranteed"
http://m.sportsbusinessdaily.com/Journal/Issues/2006/03/2006...

The 2005 article says it was 1988, but that's probably just a minor error. It doesn't mean that it was another Nike.

he may have been 16 when they were seeking to recruit someone, but it might have been a little later by the time the contract was actually signed.

I wouldn't worry about the two year difference in the dates, maybe there was a break at some point and the total is 17 years.
