English term or phrase: work systems
I am translating a safety and health memo, issued to staff at a company that makes and repairs trailers:

''Under the Health & Safety Act employees are required to
- co-operate in Health & Safety matters
- use the safety equipment provided
- take reasonable care for their own safety and that of their co-workers
- all accidents must be reported straight away to the Safety Representative
- Employees must report any defects in *work systems* or equipment to their employers and must not interfere with the safety provisions or systems set down for the protection of the work force

It is important to note that employees who fail to abide by this legislation are liable to prosecution.

I am unsure about these*work systems* - does the phrase refer to arrangements made to organise work flow efficiently, to properly sequence tasks?
or does it refer to ,,interconnected pieces of machinery, process lines?

Thank you.
