English language (monolingual) [PRO]
Livestock / Animal Husbandry
English term or phrase: crabbing dog
The issue under discussion
Training dogs for blind and partially sighted persons is a lefthanded job, creating one-sided loads on dog trainers/clients' mobility instructors:

left shoulder (at socket): transverse extensions and medial rotations to limit the dog's movement; abduction at shoulder particularly with a “crabbing dog”;

is this a dog trained to catch crabs?:-)

a dog pulling to the side

Explanation:
it's not that the dog moves sideways exactly, the dog is in a harness so cannot, but that it pulls to the side, thus straining the trainer's shoulder etc. A normal problem when training a young dog to walk to heel.
