it appears in a short text in a student's book:the green man will guide you and comfort you". What is green man?

Selected answer:another possibility
Explanation:
The answers above are a possibility of course, though it's not clear why this mythological Green Man will guide the students. Another possibility is that in this book, there will on each page be a little green man on the margin (whatever he may look like), who explains difficult parts to the students, gives hints and tips etc. You often see things like that in students' books.

agree  Dave Calderhead: A simple Google search throws up numerous references and explanations - Joanna should be capable of this if she can find Proz

-> Well, quite, thanks Dave - if it hadn't said "comfort", given the scant context, I wondered if it was a Pelican crossing!

neutral  Ken Cox: guide OK, but comfort?\\fully agree, but failing that a bit more context might help

-> Who knows? I think we need to see that green guy to understand in what way he offers comfort.

agree  David Moore (X): Yes.... now THAT wire-brained idiot I wish I could switch off!!!

-> Aww I wish I could get him back, he was cute.

agree  Kirill Semenov: yes, just a green-coloured man pictured through the pages. No ET or mythological creatures here, Scully & Mulder may rest in peace ;-)
