English term or phrase: located on the wireway (see question)
in a printing press

here are some occurrences of wireway in my text:

- "The pneumatic controls are located on the wireway"
- "The master control and sheeting pneumatic controls are located above the wireway and the master control wireway key switch and rewind controls are located on the wireway"
- Wireway Key Switch
etc

...I know that a wireway is a kind of "channel" which houses and protects electric wires, but how can controls be located on the wireway? shouldn't they be inside control panels which may then be connected to the machine using wireways?

the answer I got from client was the following:
"As to controls some elements, fx. stations can be controlled both from the main control panel as well as direct on the station."

but this still does not clarify my doubt.
Can you help me?

thanks!

mounted on the cable duct
Explanation:
IMO it simply means they are physically located (mounted) on the cable duct -- probably on a cable duct cover panel.

agree  Tony M: Yes, as well as an open channel, 'wireway' can also mean an enclosed metal duct (usually with a removable lid), and it is common (though not exactly good practice!) to mount certain components directly on the duct, instead of adding a little box for them.

-> Thanks. I automatically assumed a closed wireway (should be standard practice on something like a press for otherwise 'accessible' wiring), and using the cover panels for component mounting reduces costs.
