steel case test a measuring part of thermometer in a case made of steel Explanation: Well, I found this in Oxford: test (noun): [Metallurgy] a movable hearth in a reverberating furnace... And using google, "steel case test" has something to do with measuring the temperature: http://www.knifemerchant.com/products.asp?manufacturerID=91 So my best bet: "steel case test" is one part of thermometer where the temperature is measured, and this part is like a case made of steel. |
