English term or phrase: ionoelectronics
I have this field in a list of Romanian terms concerning potential applications of hybrid (organic-inorganic) nanocomposites. I have found 77 Google hits for the term, but I am not sure it is used as such in English-speaking communities. Has anyone heard of this field and knows what it's correct name is? Thanks.

Selected answer:iono-electronics
Explanation:
(hyphenated or not?) anyway, the refs I could find use the term like this with a hyphen:

From Nature Biotechnology (adjective: iono-electronic):
http://www.nature.com/nbt/journal/v19/n2/pdf/nbt0201_121.pdf

This one from the IUPAC website: http://www.iupac.org/publications/pac/1989/pdf/6109x1625.pdf

iono-electronics

Explanation:
Never heard of it until you used it Elvira.

Heard of an iono-sphere though.

Iono - to do with ions.

iono-sphere - ionized region of atmosphere.
Iono-electronics - electronics to do with ions.

I used the hyphen to explain how I worked out teh answer - you can use the hyphen if you wish, but it is not normal.

Anyone know if you can have electronics without ions?
