Bixa orelana Explanation: I did some research (my languages are Spanish, English and Dutch and I grew up in Uruguay; I also understand Protuguese). http://www.42cbo.iciag.ufu.br/portugues_final.asp?link=kerr 21-Urucum - (Bixa orelana). Página 400 1ª coluna From the above I infer that ucurum is also known as urucum and that the Latin name is Bixa Orelana. You can see a photo on: http://library.thinkquest.org/20248/flo1.html And on: http://www.freedomsoap.com/cgi-bin/glossary/html http://www.herballuxuries.com/ingredientslist.htm They discuss use. I get the impression that it is commonly known as annatto: http://www.theepicentre.com/Spices/annatto.html Maybe this will help. |
