Reference information:
switch - (dataväxel) - maskin som kopplar trafik i ett nätverk. Den läser adressinformationen på inkommande meddelanden och kopplar dem vidare till rätt mottagare som en telefonväxel. Skillnaden mot en router är att en router räknar ut ett vägval med inriktning på meddelandets slutdestination, medan en switch bara kopplar ihop två förbindelser.
