English term or phrase: CMP (Comprehensive Metabolic Panel) in Mexican Spanish

I'm looking for the translation of CMP (https://www.labcorp.com/test-menu/31066/metabolic-panel-14-c... specifically in Mexico.

I found two translations in the Kudoz glossary, "análisis metabólico completo", and "bioquímica"), but neither are found among the many tests offered by this lab, https://www.laclicsa.com.mx/analisis-clinicos/. Since CMP is very common test, I suspect they use a different term in Mexico?

Explanation:
El generalmente traducido como panel metabólico "completo" o "ampliado" (comprehensive metabolic panel) es un perfil específico no utilizado tal cual en ámbito hispano (que yo sepa al menos). Se trata de un perfil bioquímico de 14 elementos, específico, que incluye pruebas de función hepática;

- Glucosa, [no incluye urea], creatinina, sodio y potasio
- Cloro, Calcio, Bicarbonato
- Proteínas totales, Albúmina, Nitrógeno ureico en sangre (BUN)
- Bilirrubina Total, ALT, AST, FA [no incluye GGT]

Como tal, no encontrarás perfiles idénticos -o será difícil que lo hagas- en laboratorios de ámbito hispano. En el enlace que utilizas como referencia no existe ningún perfil con estas pruebas y ni siquiera los perfiles por ejemplo de 35 [https://www.laclicsa.com.mx/perfiles/perfil-quimica-de-35-el... ] o 38 elementos [https://www.laclicsa.com.mx/perfiles/perfil-quimica-38-eleme... ]incluyen todas las establecidas para el metabólico "completo" / "ampliado".

Así, lo más racional parece utilizar la traducción habitual (panel metabólico completo/ampliado -incluyendo la referencia al original inglés para evitar potenciales confusiones). Personalmente, lo denominaría perfil versus panel, por resultar más natural en castellano, y utilizaría la idea de metabólico ampliado, por resultar discretamente más ajustado en sentido (mientras que "completo" me rechina, por faltar algunas pruebas bioquímicas básicas, por ejemplo urea, o generalmente incluidas en las pruebas de función hepática (PFH), como la Gamma-GT por ejemplo).

De manera más personal aún e interpretando el sentido y uso habitual de este perfil, como un perfil básico general, lo denominaría
perfil metabólico general (comprehensive metabolic panel)
No obstante, cabe señalar que esta denominación, mucho más natural en castellano como traducción del original, puede darse a equívoco si no se especifica claramente a qué se está aludiendo, ya que sí pueden existir perfiles bioquímicos distintos con esta misma denominación en laboratorios de ámbito hispano. De ahí que, a pesar de resultar más natural, recomendaría la utilización de perfil metabólico ampliado (incluyendo la referencia, por nombre completo o por sus siglas, al comprehensive metabolic panel al que se hace referencia con esta denominación).

Hi Dan, if you can read my previous answer I did explain that we do use different panels and not the CMP. In Spain and as far as I know in most Spanish speaking countries we do not use a specific chemistry panel that includes the 14 elements included in the CMP. I did link a couple of references above to specific panels in your reference-link (laclicsa.com.mx) but none of those are equivalent. The problem is not the name but the inclusion of those 14 elements of the CMP in a predefined (Spanish) chemistry panel, and there is not one single panel in laclisa that includes those elements (nor specifically, nor with some added elements).
As for translation, I have given you what for me are the most appropriate names, but precisely for what I have already commented, it is necessary to add a reference to the CMP; a "perfil metabólico ampliado" o "general" has no specific meaning in Spanish without a reference to the CMP -and if it does, it relates to a different panel and not to the CMP.
