Estoy traduciendo un kit de descosedores/ cortaojales y no sé cómo traducir el término blank en este contexto. ¿Me echáis una mano, por favor?

Preparing the Blank for Turning

Prepare and cut a blank of 3/4” or larger, to the length of the brass tube (add 1/16” or trimming)
Drill an 8mm hole through the center of the blank
Spread glue over the tube, insert into blank with a twisting motion to spread the glue evenly inside
Center the tube inside the blank
When glue is dry, trim the ends of the blank flush to the tube

Hola a todos. Disculpad la tardanza en cerrar la pregunta. Efectivamente, se trataba de una pieza de madera para tornear el mango del descosedor. He optado por traducirlo por "taco". Un saludo.
