Reference: Refs. Reference information: tensile test dog-bone shaped (see pg 134, last link) > "ensayo típico de tracción, una probeta (o muestra) en forma de ¨hueso de perro" https://www.google.ch/patents/WO2010027655A1?cl=en .... in a test similar to ISO 4599. In this test dog bone-shaped, ISO-type cut tensile bars are kept at a constant strain using a bending clamp, also called a "former", that holds the bar in a bent or strained position. https://etd.lib.metu.edu.tr/upload/12610135/index.pdf In morphology observation, samples that were fractured in tensile test were investigated. In ***tensile test dog-bone shaped samples*** were elongated up to rupture and obtained fracture surface was prepared for SEM observation. https://www.testresources.net/blog/making-dogbone-tensile-te... Making Dogbone Tensile Test Samples ISO standards Dog bone tensile test samples are primarily used in tensile tests. The sample has a shoulder at each end and a gauge section in between. The shoulders are wider than the gauge section which causes a stress concentration to occur in the middle when the sample is loaded with a tensile force. This stress concentration ensures a higher probability that the sample will rupture away from the ends. When the rupture of a sample occurs in the midsection it is attributed to the material reaching its maximum tensile strength, whereas if the sample ruptures at one of the ends or in the grip itself the failure may be attributed to improper loading or a pre-existing defect in the material. Therefore, a dog bone sample is designed to ensure the highest probability that the sample will fail due to maximum tensile loading. |
