Hi, there. I am translating a technical text into Spanish about microcontrollers and I need some help. There is a description in the text that goes like this:

"If the application requires high-end math, some 16-bit microcontrollers boast math co-processors that have some of the same math performance as a 32-bitter at the same internal clock speed."

*How would you translate "bitter"? Does it refer to "bits"?

*And another question, is it possible for "high-end math" to be translated as "matemática de alta gama" or is it better "matemática avanzada"?

Yes, this refers to bits. It's comparing the performance of a 32 bits system with a 16 bits system.

Regarding your other question, I would use "operaciones matemáticas complejas". I don't think the two options you propose fit too well with the context (and "de alta gama" would be straight up wrong. That's used for things like cars, not math).

Parece que solo es un intento seudo-cómico-literario del autor. Por otra parte debes poner matemática avanzada. Decir matemática de alta gama parecería también un medio chiste. En todo caso, todo depende de la circunstancia y el contexto. Tal vez esa mismo es la idea, parecer funny.;-)
