Siguiendo la línea de Lorena: Parece ser que después de 2 (3?) meses tiene el trabajador derecho a un contrato en toda regla. Los primeros meses, por lo visto, se puede ir un poco a lo loco.

Whilst a full contract of employment does not have to be in writing, The Terms of
Employment (Information) Act, 1994 provides that an employer must issue their
employees with a written statement of terms and conditions relating to their employment
within two months of commencing employment. It must include the following:
• The full names of the employer and the employee
• The address of the employer
• The place of work, or where there is no main place of work, a statement indicating that
an employee is required or permitted to work at various places
• Job title or nature of the work
• Date of commencement of employment
• If the contract is temporary, the expected duration of employment
• If the contract is for a fixed-term, the date on which the contract expires
• The rate of pay or method of calculating pay
• Whether pay is weekly, monthly or otherwise
• Terms or conditions relating to hours of work, including overtime
• Terms or conditions relating to paid leave (other than paid sick leave)

Yo diría "antes de que entre en vigor el contrato como empleado permanente", o (como dice Nahuelhuapi), utilizaría la palabra "efectivo" ("antes de que el empleado quede efectivo en la empresa"). Como en Norteamérica (EE. UU. y Canadá al menos), por ley el empleador puede despedir a un empleado sin causa durante los primeros tres meses de prueba, los jefes de algunas empresas despiden a los empleados antes de que, en virtud del contrato, queden efectivos en la empresa (porque después de los tres meses, tienen que tener una causal de despido y el empleado puede intentar hacerles un juicio por wrongful termination). Además también después de los tres meses empiezan a tener derecho a beneficios (pension plan, medicare, etc.).

Be careful is not the contract that kicks in but THE RIGHT to said contract and your version does not reflect that: antes que el derecho a un contrato [formal] entre en vigor. More context would help, here in the US for example you may work for 3 months as a trial period before you get a formal contract. My 2 cents and Happy Sunday :-)
