When large quantities of data are used (such as in swathe bathymetry), the level of interpolation is limited only to small spaces in between the data points.
However, when processing environmental variables as only 20 stations were sampled and analysed during the benthic survey, a diagrammatic circle of a 600 metres has been used to colour illustrate the parameter level at each relevant site (this size of this circle is diagrammatically determined to be colour coded based on the scale of the Figures presented in section 5).
It should be remembered that this is done for presentation purposes only and that these data values are “not representative” for the whole of the geographical area covered by the circle.
No interpolation is required in this instance except where these circles overlap due to the scaling of the Figure.
