Continuos sweep continually sweeps the selected frequency band updating the measured value with each sweep. An asterisk (*) is blinking on the left side of the display to indicate sweep rate. The single hold mode will freeze a trace on the display and hold is displayed on the right. Holding a trace is also helpful before saving the trace,( more about saving traces under that heading later in this section).

La frecuencia es la cantidad de veces por segundo que cambia una señal, en especial de forma sinusoidal. La unidad de medida es el hercio (Hertz en inglés) que representa una velocidad de un ciclo completo por segundo.

Algunas mediciones se hacen a una frecuencia fija, y en otras (como en tu ejemplo) se va variando la frecuencia en forma continua o casi continua, desde un valor tope hasta otro (por ejemplo desde 1000 hasta 5000 hercios).

Este proceso de variación es lo que se denomina un barrido de frecuencia.
