Pre rozvoj cestovného ruchu na Slovensku významnú funkciu plnia turistické informačné centrá / TIC /, ktoré sú združené do Asociácie informačných centier Slovenska / AICES /. Hlavným poslaním AICES je podpora a ochrana práv a oprávnených záujmov informačných centier v záujme podpory rozvoja a propagácie cestovného ruchu. TIC sú miesta prvého kontaktu s turistom, majú na celom svete nezastupiteľnú úlohu v zbere, spracovaní, aktualizácii, ale predovšetkým v šírení a distribúcii informácii pre domácich a zahraničných turistov.
