English term or phrase: made arrangements to cover his absence
Доброго времени суток.

Once upon a time in ancient China, there was a young scholar named Lu. He had done well on the civil service exam and became a junior official in his hometown.

He worked hard in this position and gained a modest reputation as a good administrator.

One day, Lu received a summons from an Imperial Minister, one of the highestranking officials in China. Such an order certainly could not be ignored, so he packed his bags, made arrangements to cover his absence, and embarked for the capital.

мой вариант:

...договорился о том, как что будет на время его отсутствия.

Какие будут предложения?

Спасибо.
