a profita de fiecare secundă

Explanation:
In contextul oferit de dumneavoastra consider ca o buna traducere si cea mai potrivita a verbului “to shave” ar fi: “a profita de” dupa cum reiese din link-ul urmator:
http://ro-en.gsp.ro/index.php?d=e&q=shave

http://ro-en.gsp.ro/index.php?d=e&q=shave
http://hallo.ro/search.do?query=shave

Dar “a reduce” este mai degraba traducerea lui “shave off” dupa cum am gasit in
- Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English:
“shave something off something: if you shave a small amount off something such as a price or a record, you make the price slightly smaller or the record time slightly shorter. e.g.: She shaved half a second off the world record.”
