„Date” se referă la sursa averii, înțelegându-se de la sine faptul că curmalele au fost cultivate. Nu cred că e musai să traducem substantivul „heiress” prin alt substantiv, ideea se poate reda și printr-un verb: „moștenise”. Oricum, asta-i ideea de bază, pe care o poți broda după pofta inimii.

PS Acum că stau să mă gândesc bine, cred că merge și fără „cultivarea”, nu-i așa? Adică, „o avere făcută din curmale”... Less is more, după cum zicem în engleză!
