10. Original Oil In Place (OOIP) Assessment

A. Gross Rock Volume (GRV) uncertainty

A wedge-shape mounded, and lobate shape geometry are characteristic seismic attributes of the Espadarte fan. In general, slope fans exhibit predictable facies, however their dimension can be obscured by other facies assemblages. It is the case in the ENS-1 well area where the dimensions of the fan are obscured by the presence of external overriding MTCs. The size of the fan is therefore a major uncertainty and as proposed by Chevron in 2005, three end member scenario capture the range of the fan size.

The low case model does not extend beyond ESP-1 and ESP-2.

The mid case model extends beyond ESP-1 and ESP-2 and uses a voxel-based autotracking algorithm in which the geobody (the fan) is allowed to grow in a user-controlled way controlled primarily by amplitude thresholds.

Finally, the high case model extends farther downdip and encompasses the ENS-1 well
area.

"Entre o Eoceno e o Recente, uma sedimentação arenosa grossa acomodou-se ... clastos de basalto que formam grandes leques ao longo das falhas de borda;

Example sentence(s):
  • allows the connection of channels in the platform, canyons in the slope, and fans in the deep-water area used to populate its sedimentary cycle facies maps
  • Espadarte is an undeveloped Eocene age confined turbidit fan system, comprising clean fine grained sands
