English term or phrase: Childs more celebratory account of a “middle way"
Context

The imminent death of the Swedish or Nordic model has been announced many times.
It dates back to the Cold War disenchantment with Childs more celebratory account of a “middle way”, which resonated better during the era of the Depression and the New Deal.
And since then it has been a recurring trope, especially in the U.S. To some extent, the failure of these predictions can be traced to a misunderstanding that has been shared by enthusiasts and critics alike, namely that the Nordic countries were built on a compromise between socialism and capitalism.
