I believe "moving bed" is the term in question. The word "actual" provides more specific information, and is in opposition to "simulated" in the source text. Thus, "simulated or actual" is one part of the sentence, "moving bed" is the next part.

"True moving bed" is a theoretical concept within high performance liquid chromatography. "Simulated moving bed" is an approximate adaption of the theoretical concept. Wikipedia explains that "The simulated moving bed (SMB) technique is a variant of high performance liquid chromatography"

In patents and texts within generic chemistry, I've come across "sjikt" as a Norwegian translation of "bed". That might be one possibility to explore. The other alternative is to go with the more generic "Væskekromatografi". I don't believe that is a wrong alternative, but maybe it is too little specific.
