Exactitude, that's why I thought veddemål might be OK (for a wider sense of the term lottery). But you have all helped me by confirming my own thoughts and/or given me more ideas, so I will go forth with new confidence and rewrite where necessary/applicable :)

Agree with Hallvard, innsats makes sense. Having only read Elisabeth's snippets of the source text, I get the impression that "lottery" is used in it's widest sense possible in the source text I wouldn't let the narrower Norwegian meaning of "lotteri" stand in the way of a good translation :)

Most of the 20,000 word text of Terms and Conditions is based around betting on the outcomes of lotteries. I have used innsats and satse and vedde/veddemål. Not sure if vedde/veddemål should go out. I can't find those terms in connection with lotteries when I google. Sometimes I use "spille i lotterier" or "kjøpe en kupong", but that's in the marketing part of the text.

It takes me a while to get to the point!

I do not speak Swedish at all but besides my linguistic degree at a certain point of my life I turned from my original profession and spent few years in the casino, so I feel just interest and would like to give some explanation. Place your bets - on one hand, you say it to the clients in a real casino at the roulette table. But also this is a very polite form of calling you to the challenges of any game: literally, you "make" a bets (press the button in electronic casino) (choose your bet on the internet) but choosing a certain number, you virtually "put" the bet on that number. It comes up in many ways in the text, this is one of them:

"'Bet' – A bet placed on the outcome of a certain real event, for example the draw result of a specific lottery."

I am afraid I will have to rewrite it in so many different ways.... Hoping for something easier...
