pityriasis rosea Explanation: Because I am not sure whether you will be notified with regards to the addendum in the first answer, and since you seem quite sure that this is a reference to pityriasis rosea, re-submitting an answer. Nonetheless pityriasis is not defined so much by spots, but rather by skin flaking, and scaly patches, indeed the spots that might develop after time, are brown not pink. any of several skin disorders characterized by shedding dry flakes of skin http://www.cogsci.princeton.edu/cgi-bin/webwn Pityriasis Rosea Synonyms and related keywords: PR, pityriasis rosea gigantica, pityriasis rosea urticata,, papular PR, atypical PR, drug-induced PR, keratosis, vesicular PR, herald patch, rash, pruritus, exanthem Usually there are no permanent marks as a result of this disease, although some darker-skinned persons may develop long-lasting flat brown spots. http://www.aocd.org/skin/dermatologic_diseases/pityriasis_ro... The skin rash follows a very distinctive pattern. In 3/4 of the cases, a single, isolated oval scaly patch (the "herald patch") appears on the body, particularly on the trunk, upper arms, neck, or thighs. Often, the herald patch is mistaken for ringworm (tinea corporis) or eczema. Within a week or two more pink patches will occur on the body and on the arms and legs. These patches often form a pattern over the back resembling the outline of an evergreen tree with dropping branches. Patches may also appear on the neck and, rarely, on the face. These spots usually are smaller than the "herald" patch. The rash begins to heal after 2-4 weeks and is usually gone by 6-14. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 7 days (2005-04-14 11:42:23 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Papulosquamous eruptions, so maybe papulosquamous is the definition of the eruptions, albeit not spots, might perhaps help you.DermAtlas: Dermatology - pityriasis rosea images. ...
