Plaintiff brings this Complaint to recover from Defendants the balance due on two distinct promissory notes together with applicable interest, costs and attorney's fees.

訴状を通じて最初に出てくるpromissory noteに、"distinct" という形容詞が付いています。これ以下の文章では、複数か単数かの違いはあっても、distinctなしでpromissory note となっています。何か特別な意味があるのでしょうか。

1.売買契約で、買手が代金を支払ったにもかわらず売手が商品を納品しなかったた

3.売手は代金の返還に同意し、受取った金額の額面のpromissory noteをexecuteした(これは約束手形を振出した、と解釈しました。)
4.しかし、手形の期日がきても支払われなかった。
5.従って、買手(原告)が売手(被告)から代金等を回収する申立てを行なった、というものです。
