私はこういうものです。 (Watashi wa kouiu mono desu). Explanation: Since this is an idiomatic expression, a word-for-word Japanese translation would sound odd. To convey the meaning of the expression, it should be translated as: 私はこういうものです。 The breakdown of this phrase in Japanese is: 私は (Watashi wa) I am こういう (kouiu) this type (of) ものです。 (mono desu) person. "もの" (mono) could also be written as the single kanji character "者". If you're interested, check out the site below for a machine translation demo. Sometimes these programs can translate simple sentences well. More complex or idiomatic sentences (such as yours--I tested it) unfortunately don't come out quite right. Good luck with your project, and (please) don't forget to choose winners for the best translations! :-) Reference: http://translate.lhsl.com/ |

Watakushi wa watakushi de shika nai Explanation: Hello! I thought you might need a phrase that had a bit of a philosophical ring to it and so I opted for the phrase above. Literally, it would mean something like: I am only what I am This obviously has an underlining message : I am what I am and cannot be anything else (or maybe choose not to be anything else? :-) ) Hope that helps! |
