Explanation:

Explanation:
神殿などのある上町と労働階級が住む下町という意味ではないでしょうか。
ミケーネが下に挙げたミストラのようにはっきり区分されていたかはわかりませんが。

Explanation:
「地底都市」は、カッパドキア(トルコ)など、実際に地下に存在していた都市を意味するような気がします。ミケーネ文明のクノッソスやローマ遺跡など時間とともに埋まってしまった都市や自然災害で埋まってしまったポンペイのような都市

tsumuraさんのおっしゃるとおり、lower city は 「下町」 を意味しているのだと思います。 「下町」 でなければ、単に 「古代都市」 とすればどうでしょう?という書き込みをしたかったんですが、途中で "送信" してしまい、文書が途切れてしまいました。 すみません...。

I'm sorry, my Japanese input is not working.

It sounds like a place name. Mycanae was built on the side of a mountain, so it is very likely that the Lower City was the part of the city on the lower slopes of the mountain.

Usually when people say 'Lower/Upper' + Place Name, they use the term in a 'topographical' or 'height' sense ... i.e. this part of the town is lower/higher than the rest. A place like Mycanae would have only had one main slope, so this description makes sense (Upper Mycanae - at the top of the hill (where the Palace etc. was) and Lower Mycanae - at the bottom).
