Non so di che tipo di testo si tratta e a chi si rivolge, ma "penso dovete" comunque non va bene, semmai "penso dobbiate/si debba".

In ogni caso, potresti meglio dire ad es., alzando il registro:
"Credo sia necessario prendere in considerazione la dieta animale e scorrere a ritroso".

Proprio perchè le proteine sono un elemento "controverso" , c'è da individuare la giusta terapia facendo un viaggio a ritroso , e riesaminando tutto il lavoro fatto tornando al principio, per il bene dell'animale.
