Ciao,

esiste un verbo italiano che descrive il suono che gli animali fanno quando fiutano il terreno? Dovrei rendere il verbo 'snuffle' nella seguente frase: "The mammals, birds and insects of the night-time woodland usually hunt alone, but they use sounds to keep in touch with each other, hooting, chirping and snuffling as they move through the undergrowth"

Per il momento ho messo 'fiutare' ma mi sembra che questo verbo si riferisca più a un'azione che non al suono emesso da quell'azione. Dato che i due verbi precedenti (hooting e chirping) si riferiscono a suoni pensavo fosse meglio mantenere lo stesso senso.
