dugonghi e lamantini sono \"cugini\", appartenendo entrambi alla famiglia dei sirenidi, i lamantini sono più grandi: dugongo fino a 3 metri di lunghezza, lamantino fino a 5 (se ti può servire a collocare il tuo sirenide :) ).

Nell'indirizzo che ti ho copiato sotto sulle filippine, ho trovato questo termine. Si parla anche di mucca marina.

agree  Christina Townsend: yes, in Central America for sure I heard them called "manatees" (also lots more hits for manatee)
