English term or phrase: extract the debt from her family back home

grazie a tutti

Case
Suppose you work in a XXXX owned restaurant.
A foreign colleague tells you she got her job through an agent who helped her come to this country.
She had to get a loan from the agent to cover fees the agency required her to pay to get the job.
She’s been trying to pay back the loan for a year now, but she’s getting nowhere.
All of her savings go into the loan repayments, which barely cover more than just the heavy interest on the loan (which she’d never agreed to in the first place).
But if she quits the job now, the agent will ***extract the debt from her family back home***.
She feels trapped.

Notes to answerer
