Riporto la frase da cui ho estrapolato il termine: " in January 2005, a 1,000 person-cruise ship was struck head on by a 60-foot roll-way of 900 miles from land in the dead of winter, with hypodermic water all around."

Nel caso di un errore di trascrizione, potrebbe essere roll-away. In tal caso, mi viene da pensare alla canzone Sittin' on the dock of the bay (watching the tide roll-away) di Otis Redding, per cui lo tradurrei semplicemente con un'onda di 18 metri (o di 60 piedi, come preferisci).
