Reference: What is a compensated pass? Reference information: It varies from uni to uni what their policy is regarding fails, as some universities give you a straight fail (anything below 40%) where you would have to resit (e.g. if the course is accredited and requires passes in every assessment), but some universities have compensatory fails where anything from 30-39% [percentages vary] can be compensated for so you pass that module without having to resit.
