help with a name, please Gossa - means Dog (Catalan) Explanation: Gossa inseamna caine in catalana, deci probabil i-o fi dat cineva acest nume si atunci nu trebuie sa cauti ortografie maghiara. |

help with a name, please Your Google search, and guesses Explanation: Your Google search turned up results with "Jádi", but that is a family name (last name of people). It is very hard to imagine that a girl would use that for her dog's name. I am pretty sure both names are incorrect. I guess the writer of the script tried to transcribe the names based on how they sounded to him/her, but it is very hard to figure out what the original was. One far guess for Jadi: In Star Wars movies, the "Jedy" is often pronounced by Hungarians as "dzsedi" - that would sound as "jadee", and an English speaker may transcribe it as "jadi". Is there any indication that the girl may have seen the movies - the story must be in the 80's or later? As for the second dog, Gossa really makes no sense. Juvera's guess, "Kósza" is a possibility, this means "wanderer", and acceptable for a dog. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 5 hrs (2006-02-07 15:31:54 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Additional info: I just found out that "Kósza" is the Hungarian translation of Aragorn in the Lord of the Rings movies, so if the girl is really into movies or fantasy literature, this would actaully make sense along with "Dzsedi". |
