I NEED TO SPELL THE WORD INDIA IN THE HINDU LANGUAGE FOR A PROJECT IN GIRL SCOUTS. IF HINDU IS NOT AVAILABLE, THEN ANY OTHER LANGUAGE SPOKEN IN INDIA AND SPELLED DIFFERENTLY THAN ENGLISH WILL WORK.

disagree  mutatkar: I agree "Bharat" to be true. "HIndustan" has come after partition of pre-independence India into Pakistan and India and to equate Pakistan of "Muslims" with Hindustan of "Hindus", which ofcourse is not true as India is much more than just Hindus alone!!

disagree  monamukherji: "hind"was derived from the word "sindh". India was situated by the river sindhu. Sindh became hind in the coloqual language and the country became hindustan. Its nothing to do with "hindu" religion at all. Otherwise it would've been hindu+sthan not stan!!
