English term or phrase: dawn

Hello,
I'm translating a screenplay from Italian into English, but part of it takes place on the coast of India.
I have a conversation between John, who is English, and a Muslim man. This is the passage.

He looks through the window at the rising sun. John gently prods him.

R:
It is very hard. How do you say when the sun is born?

J:
Dawn.

R:
In Arabic you say “naimà”. The Hindus say “naima”. It’s almost the same. It is a good word for everyone.

I have contacted the author, who says that he had heard somewhere that this is what "naima" and "naimà" mean BUT he's not sure!
I need a word that will work in both Hindi and Arabic. Since the word becomes the name of the ship, my author is willing to change it if necessary.
A word equivalent to "rebirth" or " new beginning" would also work.
I will cross-post this to the Arabic section too.

Explanation:
There is this word nishant in Hindi which means dawn (literally, end of night; nisha = night, ant = end).

This is the only word I can think of which comes close in pronounciation to naima.

Keshab's reconstruction is very plausible. The word the original writer probably heard "namah" which is a very common ending to Sanskrit prayers. It means "I salute you".

Another line of thought that could be pursued is regarding the word "poornima" which is phonetically similar to "nuima", at least the last part. It means "full moon". The sight of a full moon over the sea can be a very rewarding sight, and someone could have said something about it and it registered on the ears of the original author.

Keshav, would you like to apply your very innovative mind to the "poornima" angle?

To cbolten: If you are looking for a word that would have similar meaning in Arabic and Hindi, there is habib, which means friend.

However, in this case say "Indians" in place of "Hindus", as habib is more likely to be used by a Urdu-speaking person than a religious Hindu, who would use Sanskritised Hindi, and probably use mitra, for friend.

More on "poornima":

May be the original author heard only the end part of this word("nima"), while overhearing a conversation, and assumed that it was the whole word and that it meant dawn, from the context in which it was uttered.

Each of my respected friends who has answered is correct. Actually all of these answers are the Hindi ans Sanskrit synonims of "Dawn". But I think about your description where you have said that "In Arabic you say “naimà”. The Hindus say “naima”. It’s almost the same."

I do not know Arabic. So I cannot say anything about Arabic term. But as far as the answers are observed, is there any similarity with "nuima"? perhaps the author once visited India, went to the bank of river Ganga at the dawn, heard the sayings of a priest or brahmin in sankrit like "Surya Devaaya namaH ( Oh Sun God! I salute you!) and just misunderstand the "namaH" (salute) as "naima" for the synonim of dawn.

OR He paid a visit to Rajasthan and heard somebody to say "Nuimaa" for dawn (Although I'm not sure about the word, It may be Gujarati also). Our learned friends can halp me in this regard.

As far as it is related to a a name of a ship for what you have described that "A word equivalent to "rebirth" or " new beginning" would also work" I can suggest a few words like this :

Nayee Aashaa = New Hope
Pahalee Kiran = First ray of light
Nayaa Prabhaat = New Morning

"punarjanm" stands for rebirth but it is suitable for a proper noun.
