एक वेबसाईट के अनुसार इसेआयुर्वेद में धर के नाम से जाना जाता है. कुछ शब्दकोषों में इसका अर्थ चमेलिया भी दिया गया है, लेकिन चमेलिया के सन्दर्भ की खोज करें तो उसका रंग पीलापन लिए हुए सफ़ेद बताया जाता है और उसे चमेली से संबद्ध भी बताया जाता है. अवधी-भोजपुरी में कई बार चमेली के लिए ही चमेलिया का प्रयोग भी किया जाता है. इसलिए चमेलिया और लैवेंडर दो अलग फूल हुए.
