English term or phrase: Homophily
"The term homophily refers to the degree to which interacting individuals are similar in certain ways, such as attitudes, beliefs, background, education, language etc."
(πηγή: Andersen et al. (1978) "Scales for the measurement of homophily with public figures", Southern Speech Communication Journal)

"Homophily also can be a communication antecedent or outcome" (πηγή: Eyal & Rubin (2003) "Viewer aggression and homophily, identification, and parasocial relationships with television characters", Journal of Broadcasting & Electronic Media)

"One of the most basic principles of interpersonal communication is that source-receiver similarity (homophily) increases the likelihood of communication attempts and promotes communication affectiveness" (πηγή: McCroskey et al. (1975) "The development of a measure of perceived homophily in interpersonal communication", Human Communication Research).
