Νομίζω ότι "η συμπεριφορά στην οποία εντοπίζεται η σχέση αιτίας-αποτελέσματος" είναι η καλύτερη δυνατή απόδοση της σκέψης του Χιούμ - γιατί ισχυριζόταν ότι δεν υπάρχει αιτιακή σχέση στη φύση, παρά μόνο σταθερή σύζευξη συμβάντων που παρατηρεί ο νους. Η αναγκαιότητα μιας αιτιακής σχέσης είναι έκφραση της αναγκαιότητας που νοιώθουμε στο νου μας ότι μετά το Α θα ακολουθήσει το Β, επειδή έχει γίνει χιλιάδες φορές στο παρελθόν. Άρα είναι μια "συμπεριφορά" στην οποία εντοπίζεται η αιτιακή σχέση. Ωστόσο και η "αιτιοκρατική συμπεριφορά" του Dmitris Ph. είναι πολύ κοντά...

Χωρίς το κείμενο (και μάλιστα πολύ από αυτό), ώστε να μπορέσουμε να μπούμε στο νόημα, δεν είμαι σίγουρος, αλλά αυτό που έχει σημασία εδώ είναι η μορφή της λέξης causal-izing, δηλ. παράγει, ανάγει και βλέπει σχέσεις αιτιότητας.

"Take, for example, causation. I think Hume believed, following Hutcheson`s sentimental story about morals, which I would say is equivalent to the expressivist story about ethics, that he could apply it to the case of causation, causal necessity. So, putting in my terms, what Hume discovered was that causalizing is a very special activity. Seeing a regularity in nature, in terms of a causal relation, the relation of one of them necessitating another, is seen in a very special way. The mind goes into a particular kind of shape when it sees things like that. It voices that shape by talking about A causing B, that’s not the same as just saying that Bs regularly follow As. Because you could see that and not be in the same state as the person that causalizes the regularity. Once you causalized it, you will use As to bring about Bs, you say that “had there been an A present, there would be a B present”, and so on.The status of the A-B connections becomes quite different in your mind. "
