English term or phrase: [well], hello!?
A very informal expression used to indicate that the speaker thinks his or her listener is naive or slow to realize something. It is used for saying that you think someone is not being very sensible or is not paying attention to what is happening. 'Examples:-
'Hello? I been talking to you for the past ten minutes! Have you been on Mars or something?'
'Hello! There’s no way anyone will give you a job with that haircut.'

Explanation:
I have actually come across teenagers and kids living outside rural areas using that. Apparently, enough people've had enough contact with popular American TV series for this thing to take root. It is less wide-spread than in the US or the UK, but it's still around if you want to use it.

I particularly liked Eleni's school slang expression. I have only heard this use of 'Hello!?' mainly from schoolgirls. Thanks to all for their help!

Explanation:
like the sound of a (door)bell, often used (especially by young people) in exactly the same way as "hello"
