Πήραν το όνομά τους από την παλιά ονομασία του Saint-Lô: Briovère ή, στα λατινικά, Briovera. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint-Lô#Briovère Αυτή εξελληνίζεται σε Βριοβέρα, όπως φαίνεται και στο λεξικό του Βυζάντιου (βλέπε SAINT-LAON): https://books.google.gr/books?id=S5YZAAAAYAAJ&pg=PA369&lpg=P...
