English term or phrase: reflected in a circus mirror
Hi,

I’ve got a theory that the Greeks are like the Turks reflected in a circus mirror (and vice-versa) – some things are so similar (notably the food) you really think you're dealing with one nation, but others couldn't be more different.

Just to explain a bit more: a circus mirror is a deliberately distorted mirror which you look into to see that parts of you are hopelessly out of proportion - depending on the angle you look from etc. you can become a tiny dwarf or an elongated giant, or all kinds of things.

Many thanks,

Simon
