Explanation:

Der Satz ist allerdings sehr speziell.

"self-conscience" scheint lexikologisch gar nicht erfasst oder kartiert zu sein.

Üblicher wäre wohl "self-consciousness". Und dass wiederum ist schon schillernd genug. Im täglichen Sprachgebrauch ist das eigentlich "Schüchternheit, Befangenheit" Danach dann die Bedeutung der "Selbstwahrnehmung".

"Selbstbewusstsein" im Sinne von "self-confidence" oder gar "conceitedness" gehört eigentlich nicht dazu, obwohl das für deutsche Sprecher das Nächstliegende wäre.
